Mission
Sowing Seeds of Change provides vocational training in urban agriculture to young adults with disabilities and foster youth who have both aged out of receiving services.
Purpose
Sowing Seeds of Change (SSC) aims to enrich the lives of adults 18+ years old with developmental disabilities and foster youth by providing an one of a kind inclusive environment with job training and recreational activities through urban agriculture. SSC will give participants unique hands-on experiences while educating them on how health and wellness is achieved through the accessibility of fresh, nutritious food. The time we spend with our participants will help promote a more sustainable future in our community. Through our urban agriculture vocational training program we will be able to create a healthier, more equitable food system in Long Beach and surrounding communities by providing affordable access to fresh organic produce, facilitating leadership in health and nutrition education, and connecting our community to workshops/classes, farm stands, markets, and participant entrepreneurship training that promotes sustainable agriculture.
