The mission of Performing Statistics is to model, imagine, and advocate for alternatives to incarceration.

We connect currently incarcerated youth with artists, legal experts, and advocates in order to center their voices in the movement to end youth incarceration. We believe that those most impacted by policies are the experts that decision-makers should listen to, but far too often they are marginalized and silenced, kept out of the decision-making room. Young people in our project create art that speaks to their experiences navigating the juvenile justice system and their visions for a world without youth incarceration. We then connect their work through a variety of means to decision-makers across the education, law enforcement, and juvenile justice sectors to ensure that their voices are present.
