Mission
The Hunters Point Biomonitoring Foundation, Inc. launched in 2019 as the first human biomonitoring program established to offer residents and workers at a federal Superfund site low cost, reliable urinary toxic exposure and nutrient screenings, technical support and expert medical, nutritional and legal referrals.
Purpose
“HP Biomonitoring,” has advanced the boundaries of environmental public health by offering urinary screenings capable of detecting 35 toxic and nutrient elements at the point of exposure in a community overburdened by environmental and social injustice. The EPA EJScreen and CalEnviroScreen document multiple EJ and social determinants of health indicators exceeding the 95th percentile in Hunters Point including particulate 2.5, diesel particulates, lead based paint, NATA air toxics cancer risk, traffic volume and proximity to hazardous waste and superfund sites.
