Mission
The mission of the Local Clean Energy Alliance (LCEA) is to promote the equitable development and democratization of local renewable energy resources as key to addressing climate change and building sustainable and resilient communities.
Purpose
The purpose of the LCEA is to advocate for community-based decentralized renewable energy systems, which integrate energy demand reduction and local renewable generation. We believe that it is through the combination of these energy resources that communities can address climate change while enhancing local economies, providing clean energy jobs, and improving resilience and health. The LCEA has been a national leader in promoting energy democracy-community-based control and ownership of energy resources-as an essential aspect of the struggle for climate justice and the transformation from a fossil-fuel economy to a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient renewable energy economy.
