Mission

We provide legal representation and therapeutic services to those most marginalized by the immigration system, helping them gain legal status and access resources to build their own futures.

Purpose

Girasol offers comprehensive legal representation in tandem with therapy and social work services to those most marginalized by the immigration system, prioritizing four key groups: 1) BIPOC individuals 2) individuals with physical and mental disabilities 3) LGBTQI individuals and 4) single mothers.

These individuals and families have fled from the violences of civil conflict, poverty, and persecution related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or political orientation. Many survived additional violence and trauma throughout their journey to the US; and upon arrival, continue to live in the shadows – excluded from services, resource networks, and viable employment because of legal status; facing barriers of language and discrimination; uncertain of their rights and options to access legal status.
