Energy Democracy Project is a mutual aid structure that serves as a collaborative resource and strategy center for creating programs and initiatives that advance the work of organizations struggling to democratize energy in the United States.
The Energy Democracy Project represents a collaborative structure for advancing energy democracy. In particular, it would serve to create programs and initiatives that strengthen the movement to democratize energy. We consist of Affiliated Organizations who advocate for community-based, solutions-focused, frontline-led, and justice-centered renewable energy efforts that have two main characteristics:
- Work to build community ownership and control of clean energy resources (decentralized vs. centralized energy model) and
- Promote racial and economic equity as a cornerstone: leadership and benefits of energy development are those communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the harms of fossil fuel economy and inequality.
