Habitat Works serves public and private agencies of Southern California that are involved in wildlife habitat conservation by linking them with interested volunteers, and by enhancing their efforts with logistics and financial support.
There is much work to be done in the world of wildlife habitat restoration. Public agencies and private organizations charged with the care of our wild lands, are staffed by talented and dedicated individuals who could affect significant improvement of degraded habitats. But, government budgets for this work are minimal, and private agencies depend on a donor base whose ability to give is closely linked to the changing global economy. Additionally, the geographic scope of most habitat work is very localized and community outreach and recruitment of volunteers is often limited. Our organization seeks to make wilderness volunteer opportunities and the importance of this work more widely known, and to provide education, training and logistical support to interested volunteers and the organization they wish to serve. We will direct even small monetary donations and their contributors toward significant habitat restoration projects.
